DETROIT — Detroit transforms into a celebration of love, acceptance, and authenticity this June as the city marks its ninth consecutive year earning a perfect 100 score on the Human Rights Campaign's Municipal Equality Index.
This achievement places Detroit among the country's most LGBTQIA+ affirming cities, reflected in the month's lineup of pride events showcasing why the city is an inclusive destination to visit.
The Municipality Equality Index evaluated cities across five areas: Non-Discrimination Laws, Municipal Services, Law Enforcement Reporting, and Leadership on LGBTQ+ Equality, with Detroit achieving in every category.
“Detroit is home to an array of LGBTQIA+ friendly neighborhoods, restaurants, and businesses, and ways to celebrate inclusivity,” says Meg Griffith, Media Relations Manager at Visit Detroit. “In Detroit, we don't just talk about inclusion, we live it, breathe it, and celebrate it every single day."
