MICHELIN Guide Debuts in Bosotn

Meet Boston

BOSTON, MAY 12, 2025 — Today the MICHELIN Guide announced its arrival to the city of Boston. Michelin and Meet Boston revealed that Boston will be included in the newly minted MICHELIN Guide Northeast Cities edition. The other pre-existing cities included in this edition of the Guide are Chicago, New York City and Washington, DC. Philadelphia will also be included in the new edition.

Meet Boston, together with the Cambridge Office for Tourism, developed a partnership with the MICHELIN Guide to highlight the vibrant culinary scene in Boston and Cambridge. This follows Meet Boston's own culinary initiative that launched in 2024: a multi-channel culinary campaign intended to elevate Boston as an enticing gastronomical destination for travelers, both domestically and from around the globe. The campaign captures the perspective of chefs and restaurateurs while showcasing vibrant, community-driven cuisine across all 23 Boston neighborhoods, plus the cities of Cambridge, Somerville, and beyond. The arrival of the MICHELIN Guide in Boston is a culmination of these efforts—and with the city's acclaimed dining scene, along with the Cambridge Office for Tourism's excitement to help showcase Cambridge's culinary excellence, the Guide is poised to shine a spotlight on our region as an essential culinary destination.

"The Boston restaurant scene has reached new heights, a fact validated by the MICHELIN Guide's entrance into our market,” said Martha J. Sheridan, President & CEO of Meet Boston. “Long known for distinguished and unparalleled farm-to-table and sea-to-table cuisine, Boston now boasts an expanded portfolio of epicurean excellence, underpinned by our great diversity of offerings and contributions from a global diaspora of culinary creators. We have achieved this distinction in partnership with our amazing friends across the river in Cambridge. We invite all to see and try for themselves how Greater Boston's contemporary culinary culture has evolved."

The MICHELIN Guide's anonymous Inspectors are already in the field, making dining reservations and scouting for culinary gems throughout Greater Boston. The full 2025 restaurant selections will be revealed at a later date during the annual MICHELIN Guide Northeast Cities Ceremony.

Candice Beaulieu, Interim Executive Director, Cambridge Office for Tourism, views this partnership with the MICHELIN Guide and Meet Boston as a potential “huge win” for the city of Cambridge. “Cities around the world are eager to be recognized by the MICHELIN Guide as vibrant and trip-worthy culinary destinations,” said Beaulieu. “Our office is thrilled to play a role in bringing well-deserved global recognition to Cambridge as a whole, and in particular to our city's amazing restaurant community. We already know that Cambridge is home to extraordinarily talented chefs and culinary teams, and now the rest of the world will discover it too!”

“We are thrilled for Boston and Philadelphia to join the MICHELIN Guide Northeast Cities as both are premier destinations for gourmets to experience a rich diversity of cuisine and culinary history,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide. “The local passion, talent and camaraderie in both Boston and Philadelphia is evident in their restaurant communities and the anonymous Inspectors look forward to spotlighting their unique experiences across both cities.”

The MICHELIN Guide is constantly observing the evolution of culinary destinations around the world. The Guide's selection process is determined by completely anonymous and independent Inspectors. The MICHELIN Guide is working with Meet Boston on marketing and promotional activities only.
