HISTORIC BUSHONG CABIN TO BE DEDICATED AT 41ST ANNUAL MAIN STREET FEST – A TIMELESS TEXAS TRADITION
Festival proceeds benefit historic preservation projects

GRAPEVINE, TEXAS (May 12, 2025) Grapevine's 41st Annual Main Street Fest – A Timeless Texas Tradition, presented by Bank of the West, will host the dedication of the Historic Bushong Log Cabin on Historic Main Street on Saturday, May 17.

Saved from demolition and carefully relocated to Liberty Park Plaza on Historic Main Street, the cabin now stands as a lasting tribute to Grapevine's pioneering spirit.

"It's fitting that we dedicate the Bushong Log Cabin during Main Street Fest, because proceeds from Grapevine's festivals support preservation projects like this," said Main Street Fest Co-chairs Leon and Tracy Leal. "Thanks to the tens of thousands of visitors and dedicated volunteers, future generations will be able to experience and appreciate Grapevine's rich history firsthand."

Built in the 1800s by George Emanuel Bushong, a key figure in Grapevine's early development, the log cabin reflects the city's deep-rooted Texas traditions. Arriving from Tennessee in 1858 at the age of 22, Bushong built and operated Grapevine's first cotton gin, sawmill and flour mill and helped shape the early economy. He also played a vital role in many businesses and buildings that still stand on Main Street today, including founding and serving as the first president of Grapevine National Bank. He and his wife, Elizabeth Ann, had 13 children, leaving a lasting legacy in the community.

The dedication will take place on Saturday, May 17 at 11:30 a.m. during Main Street Fest.

The festival is a three-day celebration taking place May 16, 17 and 18, featuring craft beverages, live entertainment, family fun, and now, a new historic landmark on Main Street.
